Week of 6 February 2012

MONDAY

What is your favorite after school activity?  Do you do this by yourself or with others?  Why do you like this activity?

TUESDAY

A character sketch is a written description of a character.  It is written either as pre-writing activity or as part of an analysis.  Write a character sketch about the main character in your current or most recent fiction book.  Be sure that you aren't writing a list of traits.  If you assign a character trait to your character, remember to include an example from the book that explains or proves your opinion of him or her.

Here is an example beginning: remember to write @ least 7 sentences.

John Smith is a young boy who tries to solve a neighborhood mystery.  He is naturally curious and this is why he started to notice strange things at his neighbors house.  Since he is such a good organizer, he started keeping a log of visitors to the house.  John is someone that everybody likes so when he started asking a lot of questions, people were very willing to answer them.

WEDNESDAY

The gods and goddesses had gifts and powers that added to how special they were.  What special "gift" do you have?  Can you draw? Are you a good athlete?  Are you a good listener?  Good babysitter? Organizer?  What is it that you can do well that makes you who you are?

THURSDAY

    Free write.

FRIDAY

Tall tales are exaggerations or hyperbole.  Has there ever been a time when you told a "Tall Tale?"  What was your exaggeration, to whom did you tell it, and why?
